The Epiphany
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, or early in the morning, with a sudden, overwhelming realization about your life?
That moment where the noise of the world shuts off, and you finally see the invisible block that has been silently holding you back?
Most of us have been trained to believe that if we aren't reaching our goals, we just need to work harder, grind more, or get a better planner.
We take inspired action, we put our best energy out into the world, but we keep hitting an invisible wall.
We watch opportunities slip away, or we watch others effortlessly step into the spotlight and reap the rewards of the very things weâve been working for behind the scenes.
When that happens, it is incredibly easy to drop into your feelings and assume manifestation just isn't working for you.
But here is the real truth: You aren't failing at creating your reality. You are actually a master creator.
The problem is, your subconscious mind is currently honoring an old, hidden request to protect you.
Somewhere in your past, your mind built a survival mechanism, a safety rule that decided it was safer to stay hidden, safer to stay small, or safer to keep your head down.
Your energy began demanding protection over promotion.
And because the universe always honors your deepest subconscious settings, it let your actions create the brilliance, but it hid your face from the harvest.
My 5:00 AM Subconscious Shift
To give you a real idea of what it looks like when a subconscious contract collapses, I want to share the exact epiphany that forced me out of the shadows and into this new version of myself.
It started with a message in The BGQL Launchpad (Black Girls Quantum Leap âď¸).
I have this thing where I need to say things out loud to other people before I receive my downloads, and I was beginning to realize how much I needed community to help me work through what had been on my mind.
I shared my frustration about something I couldnât seem to wrap my head around.
I would take action, put my ideas out there, and say the things I felt led to say, only to watch someone else do and say the same things and receive the results I had been hoping for.
The views. The likes. The community. The recognition. The opportunities. The compensation.
And I wasnât just sitting around waiting for something to happen. I was putting myself out there and doing the work, too.
So why did it seem like I was watching other people reap the benefits of doing the very things I was doing while I was getting little to none of the same results?
What was I missing?
After I shared how I was feeling, ShaâDonna, The Black Girl Quantum Leaper, responded with:
âIt sounds like a YOU problem.â
Now, that put me in my feelings a little because I was looking at everything I was already doing. I was taking action, showing up, and putting my ideas into the world.
I couldnât understand how I could be doing all the things people tell you to do and still feel like I was being overlooked.
But her response gave me something to sit with. And what happened next led me to a realization about myself that I hadnât considered before.
And then, at 5:00 AM, I woke up out of my sleep, and it hit me. What if there was something happening beneath the surface that I hadnât considered?
I had been so focused on what other people were doing, what they were saying, and what they were receiving that I hadnât stopped to examine what I was carrying into the situation myself.
I started thinking about who I had been long before I started building a business, creating content, or putting my work out into the world.
The evidence was there.
When I was 16, I wanted to run away. I imagined ending up in some random country where nobody knew me, where I could disappear and be free.
I never followed through with those plans, but looking back, I can recognize how much I wanted to escape being seen, known, or found.
And in the years that followed, I became comfortable with being the lone wolf. I stayed quiet. I held back. I shied away from community.
I could be present without ever really allowing people to get close enough to know me. Somewhere along the way, being invisible had become familiar. Maybe even protective.
And now, here I was, building a business, sharing my ideas, creating something I wanted people to experience, and wanting my work to reach people who needed it.
I wanted to be seen. I wanted to build a community around my work. I wanted opportunities to come from the things I was creating.
I wanted recognition for my ideas and compensation for my effort. I wanted to stop feeling like I was putting so much out into the world without receiving what I was working toward.
But I had never stopped to question whether a part of me was still attached to the very thing I had wanted for so long:
Staying hidden.
So I broke that contract and anchored my new reality with this present-day law:
I am no longer the preview; I am the main event. My inspired actions carry my unique energetic signature, and the rewards they generate cannot be misdirected. I close the gap between my output and my harvest. What is birthed through my energy belongs entirely to my reality, and I claim the full visibility, credit, and compensation for my magic right now.
This was about more than repeating a new affirmation. I had to be willing to recognize the old pattern, question what I had been carrying, and give myself permission to move differently. Your pattern might look different from mine.
Maybe itâs your relationship with money, the same relationship dynamics repeating, or a constant cycle of burnout.
Whatever keeps showing up in your life, thereâs an opportunity to look beneath the surface and examine the beliefs, habits, and decisions that may be keeping you in familiar territory.
As you move through these prompts, give yourself permission to do the work. Look at the patterns that keep showing up in your life.
Explore the beliefs you hold, what youâve learned to associate with safety, and what you may still be carrying from an older version of yourself.
You donât have to judge who you were to become who you want to be. Every version of you has a story, and understanding yours can help you recognize what youâre ready to leave behind.
The goal isnât to blame yourself for where you are. Itâs to understand yourself well enough to recognize what no longer aligns with the life you want to create and decide what youâre ready to do differently.
As you reflect, connect the dots, and begin to see your patterns from a new perspective, you may reach a moment when everything starts to make sense.
A moment when you can finally say:
I know exactly what needs to change for me.
What Are You Beginning to See?
What if the experience that keeps frustrating you is pointing toward something you haven't yet considered about yourself?
1. Observe the pattern.
What keeps happening in your life that leaves you frustrated? Where do you feel you're putting in the effort but not receiving the results, recognition, or opportunities you desire?
2. Uncover the hidden rule.
If an old belief or protective response were influencing this pattern, what might it be trying to protect you from? When might you have learned that this rule was necessary?
3. Release the old contract.
Who did you learn to be in order to feel safe, accepted, or protected? Does that version of you still need to make the decisions for the person you're becoming?
4. Write your new present-day law.
What have you realized about yourself that changes how you want to move forward? What new rule are you choosing to live by, and what is one action you can take today that reflects that decision?
Create Your Present-Day Affirmation
Take what you've uncovered and turn your realization into a declaration of who you're choosing to be now.
Think about the old rule you're releasing and the new belief you're choosing to live by. Write your affirmation in the present tense, as a statement that reflects the identity you're ready to practice.
My Present-Day Affirmation:
I am
Â
Â
Â
Now, identify one action you can take today that reflects this new identity.
Your realization is a starting point. The next step is to practice what you've decided for yourself through the choices you make, the beliefs you reinforce, and the habits you build.
That's where the CreatingYOU Planner comes in.
Use the six-month planner to put your vision into practice. Work through limiting beliefs, affirm your values, make intentional decisions, and take action that aligns with the person you're becoming.
You don't have to wait until your entire life looks different to begin showing up differently in the life you have today.
You've recognized what needs to change. Now you can begin practicing the person you're choosing to become.
